Old Munson Hall –
Originally a farm house built in 1879 and once located on the south side of where building 50 sits, it was moved in 2 sections to the current location. It is the oldest building of The Village at Grand Traverse Commons and one of the oldest buildings in Traverse City. It was known as “Building 88” and in the early years of the institution, it served as a ward for female patients. After the Grand Traverse Sanitarium burned down in 1915, it became the first Munson Hospital, serving Traverse City’s general medical needs. It was later used as staff apartments. The layout of the first floor has changed substantially and is now used for private offices.
